TT37

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The grave TT37 ( English Theban Tomb 37 = Theban grave no. 37 ) is located in the necropolis of al-Asasif in Thebes- West in Egypt . It dates from the Ethiopian period (around 700 BC ) and belonged to Harwa , the chief steward under Amenirdis I. The complex is the first monumental tomb of the 25th dynasty in northern Asasif.

Harwa chose the intersection between the former pathway of the Mentuhotep temple and a necropolis path as the location point . The large grave is accessible from the south. It consists of an underground succession of atrium , gateway niche , two pillar halls and a corridor running around the entire complex. In the sanctuary there is a semi-sculptural Osiris statue as a cult site . The 65 × 75 m grave remained unfinished. Nothing more is known about the superstructures.

TT37 has been examined by a team from Milan led by Francesco Tiradritti since 1996 .
