Table tennis

The table tennis department was founded in 1961 on the initiative of Lydia and Franz David sen. founded and started with a men's team. Later women were added, the first women's team reached the Oberliga Süd after several promotions . Here they were champions in 1977 and 1978, but could not prevail in the promotion games to the Bundesliga. In 1991 he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga. Here the team came in twice in second place and once in third place before it became champions in the 1994/95 season in the line-up of An Hae Sook , Andrea Stich, Andrea Hillgärtner, Sabine Fischer and Andrea Schiel and was promoted to the 1st Bundesliga. Although they strengthened themselves with the European champion Marie Svensson from Sweden and Sandra Peter from FC Langweid , the team could not prevent relegation at the end of the season as bottom of the table. Two years later, the rise succeeded (Adriana Nastase, An Hae Sook, Svenja Weikert, Jessica Weikert, Andrea Schiel). In the three following years you came in 8th, 7th and 9th and had to relegate in 2001.

In May 2001 the table tennis department was spun off into the TTC "Femont" Röthenbach , named after a sponsor. In 2002 the women's team returned to the upper house (Adriana Nastase, Svenja Weikert, Jessica Weikert, Sandra Stroezel, Heike Oberrauch, Melanie Windisch). A year later, the club withdrew the team to the 2nd Bundesliga for financial reasons. It is represented here to this day (2012). In the European ETTU Cup they finished second in 2000 and 2002.

Since 2007, the team has been performing under TTC Optolyth Optik Wendelstein , the name of a local company , after which the club was renamed TTC Wendelstein .
