TVgenial is an electronic program guide (EPG). The software , written in Delphi , has been developed since 2000 and claims to have over 100,000 active users. With the chip alone, the program was loaded almost 1 million times.

The programs of more than 200 German and foreign television stations , as well as some cinemas, are available, 30 of them free of charge, all others with a plus package (as of November 24, 2014). The data can be downloaded to the PC offline for up to 18 days in advance and no internet connection is required for use. Many useful functions such as search, reminders and favorites make TV planning easier. Via interfaces , broadcasts can also be conveniently B. to the Dreambox , Kathrein Receiver and Microsoft Outlook or Internet video recorders from Save.TV , YOUTV andOnlineTVRecorder can be programmed. The design can be flexibly adapted to your own wishes using 25 color schemes and currently 12 skins. TVgenial is currently available in 9 languages.

The program data are i. d. Usually supplied by Hörzu , some transmitters were connected directly. The data is updated at least once a day.

history

TVgenial (from ARAKON-TVgenial-Systems) was the first digital TV magazine and founded a new genre in 2000. Since then, the electronic program guide has been continuously expanded and improved.

In the first few years, the data was processed directly by the broadcasters, which was time-consuming and difficult due to the different formats. The magazine was free and was supposed to be financed with advertising, but that didn't work.

TVgenial has been working with Hörzu since 2002 and receives the TV data directly from there. It has been financed since 2003 by means of a chargeable plus package.

From January 1st, 2008 the data of the VG-Media- Sender in the free package will only be displayed with pure program data such as title and time and due to the license with accompanying program material only in the plus package.

The program also exists as a portable version .
