The TWD Fibers GmbH is a company of the textile industry, based in Deggendorf in Lower Bavaria . The company specializes in the manufacture of filament yarns .

history

TWD Fibers GmbH was founded in 1959 by Heinrich Kunert under the name Textilwerke Deggendorf as a circular knitting factory for stocking production with 30 employees. In 1963 the current location was built in the Seebach district of Deggendorf .

In 1975 the first filament spinning mill was built, which is now the core business. In 2005, the Daun & Cie Group took over the company following insolvency proceedings. Previously in 2002 TWD Fibers had 3,360 employees and a turnover of 350 million euros.

In 2006 TWD Fibers was one of the ten most important man-made fiber manufacturers in Germany with 800 employees and a turnover of 103.8 million euros. In 2014 the turnover was 121.0 million euros.

From 2015 to 2019 the company was owned by the holding company 4K Invest.

In spring 2019, the two-part sale - company and real estate - to the managing directors or the Karl group of companies took place .

For November 2019 to April 2020, with the consent of the works council, short-time work was agreed between the company and the Employment Agency within three to five working days per employee and month. This short-time work is attributed to the increasingly difficult market situation in the automotive sector.

On June 26, 2020, TWD Fibers GmbH filed for insolvency in self-administration.

Products

TWD Fibers GmbH produces and sells polyester and polyamide 6.6 continuous filament yarns . These are used in a variety of industries, including automotive, clothing, and medicine.
