Tableau Software is a manufacturer of visualization software from Seattle, USA . The software focuses on data visualization and reporting . Tableau Software was founded in 2003 as a spin-off from Stanford University . Today, more than 39,000 companies use Tableau Software products.

Tableau Software was one of the first companies to end its support following the publication of cables from US embassies by Wikileaks . Tableau Software had provided its products for the visualization of the WikiLeaks documents.

In June 2018, Tableau announced the acquisition of Empirical Systems. Empirical Systems is an analysis engine based on machine learning that automatically models structured, tabular data and enables statistical findings to be represented in data.

In 2019, Salesforce.com took over the company. The acquisition, valued at $ 15.7 billion, closed in the third quarter of the year.

With Tableau Software products, the focus of data analysis is on visualization. The products tableau Desktop and tableau Public are used to link data using a graphical user interface using drag and drop .
