Tactical Assault Light Operator Suit
The Tactical Assault Light Operator Suit or TALOS is a development project of the United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM) of the US armed forces . The aim is to develop an air-conditioned combat suit that will protect future soldiers much better against the effects of enemy weapons and that will enable soldiers to carry heavy loads using an exoskeleton . The suit should also be equipped with the most modern communication devices and sensors.
The project was presented by SOCOM Commander Admiral William H. McRaven . The project is coordinated by the US Army Research Development and Engineering Command (REDCOM) from the Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland .
The abbreviation TALOS is based on the Talos of Greek mythology, a bronze warrior created by the blacksmith god Hephaestus .
