Blunt Kubotan for training

history

Sōke Takayuki Kubota developed the Kubotan as a key ring for self-defense for the female police officers in the Los Angeles Police Department and registered the name as a trademark in 1978.

use

In essence, a Kubotan is a short stick designed as a key fob that is used as an impact and pressure booster. By means of different grip and punch variants, which, however, have to be trained, one can trigger high pain stimuli in the opponent. Preferred targets include the shoulder joint, elbows, ribs, certain nerve pressure points and wrists. A Kubotan should be a few centimeters longer than the width of the user's hand so that, when held in the fist, it protrudes a little on both sides. Most Kubotan are about 13 to 15 cm long, the thickness varies between one and 2.5 cm depending on the material. Many are also provided with grooves for better grip. Some specimens are pointed or rounded at the ends. In most cases, a Kubotan is made of aluminum , wood or plastic .
