Open day of the federal government

The open day of the Federal Government with the subtitle "invitation for a state visit" takes place on a summer weekend in since 1999 Berlin instead.

The Federal Chancellery , the Press and Information Office of the Federal Government (in short: Federal Press Office) and 14 ministries can be visited at this event . A look into the offices of speakers and ministers should give an impression of everyday politics. In 2017, 135,000 people took advantage of this opportunity.

For example, the ministries offer the following:

In the “diplomatic classroom” of the Federal Foreign Office , visitors are “ trained to become diplomats in 15 minutes ”.
At the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development , experts answer questions on the subjects of transport, building and housing.
The Bundeswehr shows weapon systems and offers talks on their concepts.
In the Federal Ministry of Education and Research , visitors can experiment.
