history

The Ochtruper Anzeiger first appeared in 1880. The publisher's name is unknown. Just three years later, Andreas Karaus took over the print shop on Bahnhofstrasse, where the Ochtruper Anzeiger was printed, and continued to publish the newspaper. In addition to the local press in Ochtrup, the printing works also published newspapers for Emsdetten, Borghorst, Epe, Gronau, Neuenkirchen and Wettringen.

In 1908 Konrad Kirch from Bergisch Gladbach bought the printing works and united the local newspapers to become a Westphalian friend . The printing house with the associated publishing house was named Kirch Konrad GmbH.

The Westphalian family friend appeared only three times a week and consisted of four pages. After the First World War, increased demands and costs, but the lack of funds available, prompted the establishment of the newspaper publishing company North-West Germany (ZENO).

Local newspapers in Westphalia merged in 1922 to ensure profitable newspaper design. This changed the newspaper name again to Tageblatt for the Steinfurt district . The newspaper appeared daily and was larger. At the end of the 1990s, the Tageblatt moved to the new editorial office on Professor-Gärtner-Straße. The daily newspaper for the Steinfurt district has been published under the title Westfälische Nachrichten since January 1, 2017 .
