Tagphu Lobsang Tenpe Gyeltshen ( Tib . : stag phu blo bzang bstan pa'i rgyal mtshan ; * 1714 ; † 1762 ), Tagphupa ( stag phu pa ) for short, was a Tibetan scholar from the Gelugpa school of Tibetan Buddhism and author. He was the 4th Tagphu Rinpoche of the Tagphu Monastery ( stag phu dgon pa ). He was born in an area that is now part of the Gongbo'gyamda (Kongpo Gyada) Tibetan County of Nyingchi (Nyinthri). He studied Pañcavidyā (the five classes of science in ancient India) and gained deep insights into the Tripitaka . He was the teacher of the two great scholars Thuken Chökyi Nyima ( thu'u bkyan bLo bzang chos kyi nyi ma ; 1737–1802) and Cangkya Rölpe Dorje ( lcang skya rol pa'i rdo rje ; 1717–1786). With the 7th Dalai Lama Kelsang Gyatsho ; (1708–1757) he maintained close relationships. He is the author of a famous Tibetan Buddhist novella called mgrin sngon zla ba'i rtogs brjod .
