The Tahara House on the Jewish cemetery in Kleinbardorf , a district of the Sulzfeld community in Grabfeld in the Lower Franconian district of Rhön-Grabfeld ( Bavaria ), was built in 1697. The Tahara House , on the Jewish hill south of the village, is a protected architectural monument .

description

The low sandstone block structure is built into the slope, it is 4.70 m wide and 7.94 m long. The flat gable roof is covered with large stone slabs. Remains of a fountain are still visible to the left of the entrance. The inscription above the door commemorates the founder of the Tahara house and is marked with the year 1696/97.

The interior is covered by a barrel vault that is placed directly above the floor . A wall with a door and two openings divides it into two areas. The front is the Tahara room with a stone Tahara table, which consists of an inclined stone slab on a brick base. The water from the washing of the corpses can flow through a recess at the edge of the slab onto the stone-paved floor, where it is channeled to an opening in the wall. The second room probably served as a washroom.
