Taimi (teɪmi) is a social dating platform specifically geared towards the LGBTQI + community. The network connects users based on selected preferences and locations. Taimi is available for iOS and Android .

The mobile application has a free and a premium version. The latter is based on subscriptions. Taimi was initially an online dating app for gay men, but the company announced plans for an LGBTQI + inclusive version.

Taimi is available in 14 states including the United States , Australia , Singapore, and Brazil .

history

Taimi was 2017 Social Impact Inc . released in Las Vegas . The name was originally "Tame me" and later became "Taimi". Although Taimi was founded in the US, the app gained popularity mainly in the European Union . On October 31, Taimi announced the release in the UK .

Taimi was released in July 2019 in the Netherlands and Spain , and soon after in Spanish-speaking countries in Central and South America

The Taimi founder and the team expressed the desire to fight government-sponsored homophobia worldwide. Alex Pasykov announced that Taimi wanted to work with various non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

The company has partnered with various Pride demonstrations and parades including Los Angeles Pride , New York Pride and Las Vegas Prid e. Taimi has also worked with the Trevor Project to fight for LGBTQI + rights.

Various press outlets have named Taimi the safest dating app for gay men. Security functions of the app include manual moderation of user profiles, an identifier for verified users and two-factor authentication. The app offers Facebook and Snapchat integration. There is also an overview function as well as video calls and stories.

Taimi XL is a paid premium version. There is controversial discussion as some users consider the cost to be too high. The paid version allows users to hide their identity, send unlimited message requests and undo swipes.

criticism

Subscription is one of the key issues with the app. Many users have called for costs to be reduced or eliminated. Taimi refuses to abolish the cost, arguing that the basic version of the app is free. Basically, the responses to the app are positive. However, most of the reviewers focus on the dating aspect of the app rather than the social network.

In 2018, the app received negative reactions from LGBTQI + activists after an article was published that was shared by many press channels and focused on the option to block users based on their HIV status. Taimi quickly removed the filter and the option has not been available since.

Taimi also encountered controversy on social media because of its intrusive advertising.
