Takaeang is the northwestern island of Aranuka - atoll that the Gilbert Islands in the Republic of Kiribati belongs.
geography
The island forms the western tip of the atoll , which is roughly triangular in plan . In the east lies the larger Buariki , to which there is a connection through a sandbank. The island itself points west to the Kuria Atoll and is oval on the sea side to the west and pointed to the southeast, towards the lagoon. In the east there are two tiny motu in front of it . The settlement of the same name is located on the south side of the island. To the west, the Aranuka Reef West extends into the sea for about 3 km .
