Takako Ida

Takako Ida ( Japanese 井田 貴子 , Ida Takako ; born December 13, 1972 in Saitama Prefecture ) is a Japanese badminton player and coach.

Career

Ida is from Saitama Prefecture and attended Koshigaya Middle School and then Saitama Private Sakae High School . During this time she took part in the Japanese Inter-High Championships and Dutch Junior in 1989, and reached 3rd place in both singles. The following year she won the Inter-High as well as the German International Junior Championships in singles. In the latter, she also reached 3rd place in doubles. In 1991 she reached the Japanese student championships in singles 1st place, in doubles 2nd place and in the student world championships 2nd place in singles and 1st place in doubles. In 1992 she defended her title at the Japanese Student Championships, reaching a place lower in doubles.

After finishing school, she joined the Sanyo company on April 1, 1993 and played for their factory team. At the All-Japan Championships in 1993 she reached 3rd place in singles, 3rd place in doubles in 1994, 2nd place in singles in 1995 and finally the championship title in 1996, which she was able to defend the following year. After a comparatively poor performance in 1998, she reached third place again in 1999.

In 1999 she was also extremely successful internationally and became individual champion at the Poland Open, Giraldilla International in Cuba, Canada Open , Spanish International and Scottish International . In 2000 the championship successes at the French Open , Chile International and Peru International were added. She also took part in the women's singles at the Olympics this year. She lost her next game after a bye in round one and was 17th in the final score.

After her retirement from sport, she became one of the team's coaches ( taken over by Panasonic in 2011 together with San'yō Denki ).
