Takayuki Tanii

Takayuki Tanii ( Japanese 谷 井 孝行 , Tanii Takayuki; born February 14, 1983 in Namerikawa ) is a Japanese walker .

At the World Athletics Championships in 1999 in Bydgoszcz, he won bronze in the 10,000 m walking.

In 2004 he finished 15th in the 20 km walk at the Olympic Games in Athens and was disqualified in the 50 km walk .

At the World Athletics Championships he came over 20 km in 2005 in Helsinki on the 23rd place and in 2007 in Osaka on the 21st place.

In 2008 he was disqualified at the Olympic Games in Beijing over 20 km and finished 29th over 50 km.

From then on he concentrated on the 50 km distance. In 2009 he was disqualified at the World Championships in Berlin , in 2011 he was ninth at the World Championships in Daegu , and in 2012 he did not finish at the Olympic Games in London .

Another ninth place at the 2013 World Cup in Moscow was followed by a victory at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon and a bronze medal at the 2015 World Cup in Beijing.

Tanii is "Sergeant 2nd Class" ( nitō kūsō , English Technical Sergeant ) of the air self- defense forces and began studying in 2014 at the sports college of the self- defense forces .
