Takeda Nobushige ( Japanese 武田 信 繁 ; * 1525 ; † September 10, 1561 ) was one of the 24 generals of Takeda Shingen .

At first he was the favored heir of his father Takeda Nobutora , but when he was banished by a seizure of power by his other son Takeda Shingen , Nobushige remained loyal to his brother, although he lost the role of head of the clan. He also held the office of Takeda Tenkyū.

Personality and work

He is said to have both strategic skills and wisdom. His written works include the Kyūjūkyū Kakun , a set of 99 paragraphs for members of the Takeda. He led large associations, for example in 1544 commanded the troops that captured the Kōjinyama Castle from the rebellious Fujisawa Yorichika as a punitive expedition. The information in the sources about the outcome of the fighting is contradicting itself. The Katsurao Castle , main fortress of Murakami Yoshikiyo , fell to Nobushige and his brother Takeda Yoshinobu in 1553. This drove Yoshikiyo to Uesugi Kenshin , Shingen's archrival in the northeast, and was practically the prelude to the battles for Kawanakajima between Kenshin and Shingen.
