Hara Toratane

Hara Toratane ( Japanese 原 虎 胤 ; * 1497 ; † 1564 ) was a samurai of the Sengoku period . He became known as one of the " 24 Generals ". He received the title "Mino no Kami". His family was before entering service for the Takeda, a vassal family of the Shimousa (clan) of Shimousa Province .

He made a great contribution to the victory over Fukushima Masashige in 1521 and was reputed to be one of the most capable Takeda generals. Hara Toratane deserted briefly in 1553 and temporarily joined the Later Hōjō , but was persuaded to return a short time later. He was particularly active in the battles for the Shinano province and died of the wounds he sustained at the Battle of Warikadake in 1561. He is known to have been wounded 53 times and fought over 30 battles. His fiefdom and title, Mino no Kami, went to Baba Nobuharu on his death , who was famous for not having been wounded in any of his 21 battles.
