Itagaki Nobukata

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Itagaki Nobukata ( Japanese 板垣 信 方 ; * 1489 ; † March 23, 1548 ) was a follower and troop leader of the Takeda (clan) . The spelling with the Kanji 信 形 was also used for his name, with the same pronunciation. Nobukata served under Takeda Nobutora and Takeda Shingen and already took care of the adolescent Shingen (then still Harunobu) in his youth. He was known as one of the " 24 Generals ".

Ascent

In 1541, when Nobutora, just like Amari Torayasu , was ousted from the leadership of the clan, he showed himself loyal to the young Shingen, who took over his father's position in a kind of coup. Shingen had a good relationship with his mentor and loyal companion, which is why he entrusted him with command of his own troops when he could not go into battle himself. In 1542 he personally killed Takato Yoritsugu in the battle of Ankokuji , shortly after the siege of Fukuyo . In 1545 he successfully took the Takato Castle . In 1546 he defeated Uesugi Norimasa in the battle of Usui Toge . With these victories, he was instrumental in gaining control of Shinano Province and thus demonstrated his tactical ability.

case

In 1547, Nobukata and his forces were almost completely wiped out in a battle with the Murakami (clan) , and without the timely and energetic rescue by a force under Hara Toratane , Nobukata would likely have fallen himself. Shingen then dedicated a waka to him to encourage self-correction:

誰 も み よ 満 つ れ ば や が て 欠 く 月 の 十六 夜 ふ ふ 穴 や 人 の 世 の 中
Dare mo miyo mitsureba yagate kaku tsuki no izayofu ana ya hito no yo no naka
(Transmission) “Everyone sees that even the beautiful full moon begins to change shape, decreasing with the passage of time. Even in our human eyes, things are as they are. "

In 1548, during the Battle of Uedahara , Nobutaka left the pursuit of his enemies, believing himself to be victorious, and summoned his troops to celebrate the victory. This enabled the Murakami troops to reorganize and launch a targeted counterattack, which eventually fell victim to Nobutaka and Amari Torayasu .

The politician of the Meiji period , Itagaki Taisuke was the descendant of the 12th generation of Itagaki Nobukata.

In the media

In 2007, the NHK TV channel published the taiga drama Fūrinkazan , Itagaki is played by Chiba Shin'ichi .
