Takis Hadjigeorgiou ( Greek Τάκης Χατζηγεωργίου Takis Chatzigeorgiou , born December 11, 1956 in Pano Akourdaleia , Pafos ) is a Cypriot journalist and politician of the Anorthotiko Komma Ergazomenou Laou .

Life

Hadjigeorgiou studied law and journalism at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens . After studying in Athens, he returned to Cyprus and worked as a freelance journalist. In Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation he became known in Cyprus for his talk show Without Frontiers . From 1995 to 2007 he worked for the Cypriot radio station Radio Astra 92.8 . From 1996 to 2009 he was a member of the House of Representatives of Cyprus . In 2009 Hadjigeorgiou became a member of the European Parliament and vice-chairman for the European United Left / Nordic Green Left group . There he was a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs , in the delegation in the EU-Turkey Joint Parliamentary Committee, in the delegation in the parliamentary cooperation committees EU-Armenia, EU-Azerbaijan and EU-Georgia and in the delegation in the EURO Parliamentary Assembly -NEST. After defending his mandate in 2014 , he left parliament after the 2019 European elections .
