The Tactical Training Command of the Italian Air Force (TaktAusbKdoLw IT) carried out tactical training with the Tornado and Eurofighter weapons system (WaSys) at the Decimomannu military airfield in Sardinia . The command was dissolved on December 14, 2016 and the use of the airfield ceased.
history
On December 16, 1959, the representatives of Italy, Germany and Canada signed an agreement on the establishment, operation, maintenance and financing of the NATO airfield in Decimomannu . After the United States of America and England were also on site as partners in the meantime, from the end of the 1990s Italy and Germany shared the facility for the training of their flying personnel. Until April 2013, the TaktAusbKdoLw IT carried out instruction in the rescue systems and life-saving equipment for “survival at sea” as part of the Air Force officer training. Due to the increasingly limited exercise options at the Capo Frasca air-to-ground firing range and the associated profitability problems, Germany terminated the user contract in due time at the end of 2016.
assignment
The task of the Tactical Training Command of the Air Force in Italy was to take on and support the squadron commands of the Air Force for tactical training with the various weapon systems and commands of allied and friendly forces.
