Tagtser Rinpoche ( Tib. Stag mtser rin po che ) is an important incarnation series of the Kumbum Monastery , a monastery of the Gelug School of Tibetan Buddhism in Qinghai . There are currently six known representatives of the system. He is also the abbot of Shadzong Monastery ( shwa rdzong dgon ).

The best-known representative of the series is the 6th Tagtser Rinpoche, Thubten Jigme Norbu ( thub stan 'jigs med nor bu ; 1922–2008), the eldest brother of Tendzin Gyatsho , the 14th Dalai Lama .
