The Obersinn Viaduct is a 178 m long railway bridge on the high-speed line from Hanover to Würzburg . It is located on the edge of the Obersinn market in Lower Franconia and therefore bears its name.

The structure is followed to the north by the Dittenbrunn tunnel , to the south by the Mittelinn viaduct .

The 178 m long bridge has four fields with pillar spacing of 44 m each.

The bridge superstructure consists of a chain of four single span girders, each with a span of 41.75 m .

The bridge reaches a height of up to 24 m.

history

In the construction phase, the structure was between the construction kilometers 256.843 and 257.021.

Construction work began in April 1981. The planned length was 176 m and the estimated cost was 5.5 million D-Marks . The first superstructure was concreted in September 1981.

It was completed on November 9, 1982 as the first bridge structure in the southern section. At that time, six bridges were under construction along the route.

At the end of 1983 it was one of two completed viaducts in the Fulda – Würzburg section of the new line, alongside the Mittelinn viaduct.

Philipp Holzmann was commissioned with the construction . The contract was worth 5.3 million D-Marks.

business

The structure was driven on in August 1986 as part of the high-speed section between Hohe Wart and the Burgsinn depot . Passenger train operations began at the end of May 1988.

Since then, the bridge has been used by long-distance passenger and freight trains at speeds of up to 250 km / h.
