Schaep
The Schaep family describes a lower nobility family from the Dutch province of Overijssel . One branch (?) Belonged to the Amsterdam patriciate .
timeline
The medieval Schaep family lived in the "Huis de Dam" castle, located near Hellendoorn . Members of the sex were related to the Van Voorst tot Voorst , Van Renesse , and Van Heeckeren . Her other possessions included the residences and castles "Batestein" (near Harmelen), "Huis Windesheim" and "Venendal". In Amsterdam, the Schaep appeared in the government of the city in the mid-15th century . They were among the few families that were in government before and after the Amsterdam Alteration in 1578. Together with the Bicker , Backer , Burgh and Boelens Loen families , who were related by marriage , they were able to exercise their influence there.
