The Mittelinn viaduct is a 152 m long railway bridge on the high-speed line Hanover – Würzburg . It is located in the Lower Franconian community Mittelinn and therefore bears its name.

It takes up two tracks that can be driven on as planned at 280 km / h.

construction

The 152 m long structure measures five fields with spans of 5 × 27.75 m. The superstructure made of single-span girders is 14.3 m wide, the construction height is 4.00 m.

The roadway is up to 22 m above the ground.

history

Construction of the bridge began in April 1981. Philipp Holzmann had received the order for a total of 4.6 million DM . The contractual end of construction was scheduled for October 31, 1982. The length planned in autumn 1981, at 152 m, corresponded to the length actually realized later.

The superstructures were concreted on falsework .

In addition to the Obersinn viaduct , the structure was completed at the end of 1983 as the first of two viaducts in the southern Fulda - Würzburg section .

In the planning and construction phase, the bridge was between construction kilometers 258.221 and 258.373.

The structure went into operation as part of the new southern section at the end of May 1988.
