Talia (grape variety)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Talia is a white wine cultivated in Portugal , the origin of which is unclear. While the vines that were sent to the renowned ampelographer Pierre Galet for examination are clearly identical to the Trebbiano variety , other vines are clearly independent. Because of this unclear situation, Talia is currently still listed as an independent variety.

The cultivation of the variety is recommended in the Ribatejo and Oeste regions . It is also approved in the Douro , Minho , Trás-os-Montes , Beira Litoral, Beira Interior , Alentejo and Algarve regions . In the 1990s, a vineyard area of about 571 hectares was raised.

Talia is a variety of the noble grapevine ( Vitis vinifera ). It has hermaphroditic flowers and is therefore self-fruiting. In viticulture , the economic disadvantage of not having to grow male plants that produce yield is avoided.
