The Taliesin West is a residential and studio building by the American architect Frank Lloyd Wright , who also designed it himself. It was completed in 1937 and is located in Scottsdale , Arizona .
Wright used the house as winter quarters. It is the counterpart of the Taliesin summer home in Spring Green , Wisconsin .
The Taliesin West received the American Institute of Architects' Twenty-five Year Award in 1973 . It has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1974. On May 20, 1982, it was recognized as a National Historic Landmark .
