The Talis International Holding is a corporation founded in 2010 group of companies. With ten brands in Germany, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Israel and Great Britain, Talis produces and sells valve technology worldwide. The group is based in Heidenheim an der Brenz , Baden-Württemberg . The company was founded on October 1, 2010. The group employs 1,450 people in 9 countries worldwide, including around 500 in Germany. In the 2018 financial year, the company generated sales of over 222 million euros and had a net debt of 337.8 million euros; the overall result of the Talis Group in the 2018 financial year was a loss of 34.91 million euros.
history
Talis Management Holding was founded in 2010. The brands Atlantic Plastics, Bayard, Belgicast, Erhard, Frischhut, Schmieding, Strate, Unijoint and Wafrega have been part of the newly founded group of companies since the beginning. In 2011, Raphael Valves was bought. In 2015, Talis parted with your Wafrega brand. Talis Management Holding is owned by the private equity company Triton Partners .
According to the Cartel Office, Erhard, Frischhut, Schmieding belonged to a cartel with a market share of 70% in Germany. Over a long period of time, the cartel has significantly impaired competition with illegal price fixing. Erhard cooperated in the investigation and in 2011 the antitrust proceedings were opened. Atlantic Plastics
In the early 1990s, the US group Tyco International Ltd. bought the companies Atlplas, Edward Barber & Co Ltd (Ebco), Talbot, Under Pressure Engineering (UPE), Samuel Booth, Cast Iron Services (CIS) and Erhard Valves Ltd. and merged these under the brand Atlantic Plastics, which from then on belonged to "Tyco Waterworks". Atlantic Plastics has been part of the Talis Group since 2011 and employs around 220 people.
Bayard division international
The French company was founded in 1880 in a small workshop in Lyon . Initially, Bayard produced fittings for kettles and wine barrels. Today, fittings for agriculture (irrigation), construction work, drinking water and waste water are predominantly manufactured. Bayard is also a well-known company in the areas of fire protection and line protection systems. Today the company is based in Meyzieu (France). The company currently employs around 250 people and has a turnover of around 75 million euros. This makes Bayard the Talis brand with the highest sales.
Belgicast Internacional SL
In 1957, the Spanish company began manufacturing gate valves, check valves, needle valves and butterfly valves for the navy. With the closure of many companies in the early 1980s due to the oil crisis, the company diversified its product portfolio into the water market. Belgicast is u. a. known for its innovations such as the Multamed slide. Thanks to constant further development, the company has established itself in markets such as seawater desalination and district cooling. The head office is in Munguia (Spain) near Bilbao .
Erhard GmbH & Co. KG
The company was founded in 1871 by Johannes Erhard. First, Johannes Erhard opened a small workshop for the production of brass taps. Today Erhard is a global company in the field of water fittings.
According to an article in the Heidenheimer Zeitung, the company has around 200 employees (as of March 31, 2016) and plans to reduce the workforce by 1/4.

The product portfolio includes fittings for all areas of water supply. The company supplies its products in all sizes (nominal sizes: DN10 to DN3600) - from house connection fittings to fittings for power plants. The portfolio also includes valves for the wastewater sector as well as large industrial plants. In addition, the product range also includes special fittings and complete solutions.
Georg Elser is one of the best-known former employees . On November 8, 1939, he carried out a bomb attack on Adolf Hitler in the Bürgerbräukeller in Munich.
Ludwig Frischhut GmbH & Co. KG
In 1945 Ludwig Frischhut founded the company in Pfarrkirchen in Lower Bavaria. At the beginning, the company founder set up a workshop for agriculture and forestry. Seven years after it was founded, its own foundry was set up to manufacture cast sewer parts. In the decades that followed, new products were constantly developed and existing ones refined. Today the company produces cast parts with around 100 employees at the Neumarkt-Sankt Veit and Pfarrkirchen locations .
In addition to cast parts for construction, machine and plant engineering, Frischhut also produces fittings for water and sewage supply. In production, environmentally friendly coating technologies are used with fluidized bed sintering or spraying processes.
Raphael Valves Industries (1975)
In 1949, Raphael Valves Industries became Israel's first manufacturer of quality control valves. Today Raphael u. a. Manufacturer of hydraulic control valves for irrigation systems, fire protection and water supply systems.
Schmieding Armaturen GmbH
When mining in the Ruhr area rose very rapidly in 1874 and the industry expanded very quickly, the trained businessman Ernst Schmieding founded the company in Dortmund. At the beginning, the company supplied fittings for the two industries already mentioned. After the end of the Second World War, the company had to be largely rebuilt. In the course of this, Schmieding also developed a large number of innovations that should have a positive effect on the future development of the company. At the end of the 1940s, the company entered into a close relationship with Eisenwerke Düker to manufacture cast iron fittings. A decade later, Schmieding was the first German company to offer enamelled heavy-duty fittings. A few years later the portfolio was to be expanded to include wastewater.
The company has been located in Holzwickede (near Dortmund) and Rodgau near Frankfurt / Main since 2009 and employs a total of 30 people. Today the company's portfolio consists of valves for gas and water supply.
Strate Technologie for Abwasser GmbH
Wilhelm Strate founded the company in Hanover-Wülfel in 1949. Today, check valves, as well as ventilation and venting valves, are part of the wastewater product portfolio. Strate also produces check valves and start-up relief valves for the industrial sector. The company currently employs around 50 people at the Sarstedt location and generates sales of almost 8 million euros.
Unijoint
Unijoint BV was founded in 1992 and is now based in Beringe (Netherlands). The company was founded by a team with over 35 years of experience in engineering, development, manufacturing and marketing of pipe couplings.
Today, fasteners such as B. Flange adapters, fitting and expansion pieces for the Unijoint product portfolio. The company delivers these products worldwide in nominal sizes from DN50 to DN4000 and pressure ratings from PN10 to PN40.
