Talitha Getty (born October 18, 1940 in Java as Talitha Dina Pol , † July 14, 1971 in Rome ) was an actress and style icon of the 1960s.

Life

Talitha Dina Pol was born on October 18, 1940 in Java. Her father was Willem Jitts Pol (1905–1988) and her mother was Popper John (1912–1997), the daughter of the painter Augustus John . During the Second World War , she was held in a Japanese prison with her mother , and her father was housed in a separate camp . After the war she went to Great Britain with her mother , where she studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London .

1960s

On December 10, 1966, she married the philanthropist and managing director of an oil company, John Paul Getty II . You became part of the swinging London fashion scene and were friends with Mick Jagger , among others .

Described as an alcoholic and drug addict, John Paul Getty did not care about the family business, Getty Oil , which greatly disappointed his father. In 1997, John Paul Getty became a British citizen and philanthropist.

In July 1968 their son, Tara Gabriel Gramophone Galaxy Getty, was born. He became an Irish citizen in 1999 and dropped his third and fourth first names. He and his wife Jessica have four children, including a daughter who is also named Talitha .

Talitha died on July 14, 1971 in Rome of a heroin overdose .
