The Amselbach dam is one of the smallest dams in the Free State of Saxony . It was built to supply water to the steam locomotives of the Reichsbahn and is now used to supply drinking water .
Dam wall
The dam of the Amselbach dam is a gravity dam made of concrete with a quarry stone cladding . The dam was built in 1938–1942 near Weißbach near Zwickau (commissioned in 1942). The dammed body of water is the Amselbach , a tributary of the Zwickauer Mulde . The top of the wall is accessible, but there is no bridge over the flood relief .
