The dam Batang Ai is a dam with hydroelectric power plant in the state of Sarawak , Malaysia . It dams the Batang Ai into a reservoir. The dam is located in the Batang Ai National Park .

Construction of the dam and the associated power plant began in 1981. The power plant went into operation on August 21, 1985. It is owned and operated by Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) and is also operated by SEB.

Barrier structure

The barrier structure consists of a CFR dam with a height of 85 m. The length of the dam crest is 649 (or 810) m.

Reservoir

With a maximum storage target of 108 m above sea level , the reservoir extends over an area of ​​around 85 (or 90) km² and holds 2.87 billion m³ of water; 1.24 billion m³ of this can be used to generate electricity.

power plant

The power plant has an installed capacity of 100 (or 108) MW . The average annual generation is given as 453 (or 460) million  kWh . The power plant's four Francis turbines each have a maximum output of 25 MW. The fall height is 65.3 m.
