The Harcov dam, previously known as the Harzdorfer dam and Reichenberg dam , is a typical Intze dam in Liberec - Kristiánov in the Jizera Mountains in the Czech Republic .

history

The dam was built from November 1902 to June 1904 between Altharzdorf and Reichenberg in Bohemia under the supervision of Intze . Today it is in the urban area of Liberec (Reichenberg). Its purpose was flood protection and the industrial water (service water ) supply for industry.

The reason for the construction of this dam and five others in the vicinity was the flood of 1897 in the catchment area of the Görlitzer Neisse . The dam wall is a gravity dam made of quarry stone masonry , which is based on granite . The foundation stone was laid on June 27, 1903; the inauguration took place on April 29, 1904. The construction work on the wall was already finished in December 1903, the supplementary work only in June 1904. The dammed water is the Harcovský potok ( Harzdorfer Bach ).
