history
Initial plans to build a dam on the Křetínka emerged 1911. Intended time was the establishment of a stone dam with a storage space of 5.8 million cubic meters of water balance in the Svitava after the construction of in Mußlau at Brüsau for drinking water supply of Brno arising I. Brüsauer Waterworks. The unrealized dam project on the Křetínka was taken up again in 1929 and revised. The planning now assumed a backlog of 11 million m³ and the construction of a hydropower plant in the dam.
The dam was finally built between April 1972 and December 1976. It was fully commissioned on October 1, 1979. Today, the reservoir is also used for recreational purposes and fishing.
