Tamara Chikunova
Tamara Chikunova, born Petrova (* 1948 in the Tashkent district ) heads the Tashkent / Uzbekistan- based organization " Mothers against the Death Penalty and Torture ".
Career
Chikunova started her job when her son Dmitriy Chikunov was falsely charged with murder in 1999; he was executed on July 10, 2000.
With her organization, she helps death row inmates and, in collaboration with other organizations, such as Murder Victims' Families For Human Rights and the Community of Sant'Egidio, campaigns for the abolition of the death penalty.
