Tamara Nikolajewna Lissizian (born March 3, 1923 in Tbilisi , Transcaucasian Socialist Federal Soviet Republic ; † November 29, 2009 in Moscow ) was a Georgian and Soviet director and film writer .

Life

In 1941, as a student, she volunteered to fight on the war front. She came briefly into German captivity. After she escaped, she rejoined the fighting. In 1945 she married the son of Luigi Longo (later secretary of the Italian Communist Party). From 1946 to 1952 she lived with her husband in Rome and worked as a representative for a Soviet film export agency.

After her divorce, Lisitsian returned to Moscow and resumed her studies of directing at the State Institute for Film in Moscow. At the same time she worked on the translation of Italian films into Russian. She graduated with the film Sombrero in 1959.

Lisitsian's documentary Russia sotto inchiesta , which is received as a propaganda film, was the first film to be shot in the USSR by a crew from the West. Her 1981 espionage thrillers Na granatovykh ostrovakh and 1983 Tanya villy 'Greta' are seen as the Soviet response to the 007 films, in which Americans play the antagonist role.
