Tamengos is a place and a formerly independent municipality in the Portuguese district ( concelho ) of Anadia . The community had 1601 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011). The well-known health resort Curia is located in the area of ​​the former municipality .

history

The church and parish of Tamengos was officially mentioned for the first time in 1064 . In 1140 Portugal's first king, D.Afonso Henriques , gave the area to the Church (Sé) of Coimbra . It was administered from Anadia, to whose circle it always belonged.

Since the end of the 19th century, the community experienced some boom, thanks to the newly established Curia health resort .

In 1991 the municipal area was reduced by the spin-off of the municipality of Aguim .

With the territorial reform in Portugal in 2013 , the municipalities of Tamengos, Óis do Bairro and Aguim were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Tamengos, Aguim e Óis do Bairro . Tamengos is the seat of this newly formed community.

Tamengos was the seat of a community of the same name ( Freguesia ) in the district ( Concelho ) of Anadia . It had an area of ​​8.16 km² and 1,602 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011)

The municipality consisted of the following localities:

  • Mata da Curia
  • Tamengos / Espinhal

In the course of the municipal reorganization on September 29, 2013 , the independent municipality of Tamengos was dissolved in the course of the administrative reorganization in Portugal . Since then it has been the seat of the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Tamengos, Aguim e Óis do Bairro .
