Óis do Bairro is a place and a former municipality in the central region of Portugal .

history

Finds show a Roman settlement here , especially at the archaeological excavation site Costa da Eira .

The current town was probably built long after the Reconquista . King D. Manuel gave the place city rights in 1514 and made it the seat of a district.

In the course of the administrative reforms after the Liberal Revolution in 1822 , the district was dissolved in 1836 and incorporated into the São Lourenço do Bairro district. Since its dissolution in 1853, Óis do Bairro has been a municipality in the district of Anadia.

Óis do Bairro was a parish ( freguesia ) in the district ( concelho ) of Anadia , in the district of Aveiro . The community had 491 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).

As part of the municipal reorganization on September 29, 2013 , the municipalities of Óis do Bairro, Tamengos and Aguim were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Tamengos, Aguim e Óis do Bairro .
