Tampa Records

Tampa Records was an American music label that existed from 1955 to around 1965.

The independent record label Tampa Records was founded in Hollywood in 1955 by Robert "Bob" Scherman and Irving Shorten. During this time he founded his first label, Atlas Records , followed by Skylark Records , where Shorty Rogers and Jimmy Giuffre recorded with Howard Rumsey's Lighthouse All Stars , the Paul Smith Trio / Quartet and the Oscar Moore Quartet with Carl in the early 1950s Perkins were released. About 25 jazz long-playing records and a number of pop and rhythm and blues singles were released on the Tampa label . The first release was the LP The Loveliness of You by Gerry Wiggins . The Tampa productions included re-releases of the Skylark material and new recordings by Bob Enevoldsen , Bob Gordon , Herbie Harper , Plas Johnson , Mike Pacheco , Marty Paich , Art Pepper and Jimmy Rowles ; they were re-released on VSOP Records in the 1980s.
