Tanck (also Tancke ) is the name of a German family from Wismar . Tanche and Tank (also Tanch , Tanke , Tanck , Tancke and so on) is the name of several Danish-Norwegian genders. While these sexes had similar names and coats of arms , their possible family relationships are unknown.

Tancke in Germany

In the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries, especially in Wismar, there were several people who carried the name Tanck (e). One of them was Provost Otto Tanck .

Tanche in Denmark

Martin Tancke

Martin Tancke , whose parents or siblings are unknown, was admitted to the Danish nobility in 1643 by King Christian IV (naturalization). Martin Tancke claimed that the family had been ennobled by Emperor Charles IV .

Hadersleben

A Tanche family lived in Hadersleben , from which some members immigrated to Norway.

The name Tanche is used in Northern Norway and Denmark . The Eastern Norwegian branch uses the tank variant . Both came from Hadersleben.
