Tang Dengjie

Tang Dengjie (Chinese: 唐登杰; born June 1964 in Shanghai ) is a Chinese businessman and politician. He has been the governor of Fujian Province since January 2018 . He spent much of his career in Shanghai, particularly in the automotive industry. He was also the executive director of the state-owned China South Industries Group and head of the China National Space Administration .

Life

Tang was born in Shanghai in 1964, his parents are from Jianhu in Jiangsu Province . From September 1981 he studied mechanical engineering at Tongji University . After graduating, he worked at Shanghai Volkswagen as a technician, head of the industrial technology department and head of the planning and development department. He later became Managing Director of ZF Friedrichshafen in Shanghai and Vice President of the Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation . In 2001 he was named chairman of Shanghai Electric .

In 2003, Tang was appointed deputy mayor of Shanghai in charge of industry, agriculture, trade, tourism, power generation and manufacturing safety. He was the youngest deputy mayor of Shanghai to date. In 2008 he was re-elected as deputy mayor.

In 2011 he was appointed General Manager of China South Industries Group and in 2013 President. In 2017, Tang was appointed Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Administrator of China's National Space Agency, Chairman of China's Atomic Energy Agency, and Director of State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense.

In December 2017, Tang became deputy party chief of Fujian, and in January 2018 he was appointed governor.

Tang is an alternate member of the 19th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party .
