Tango ( original spelling : tango ) was a magazine published by the Gruner + Jahr publishing house and first appeared on September 29, 1994. Editor-in-chief was Hans-Hermann Tiedje , who previously worked in the same position at Bunter and Bild -Zeitung. Advertised as “Info-Illustrierte”, it quickly turned out to be a failure. Of the originally targeted circulation of 500,000 copies, only half could be achieved by the end of the year.

Most recently, a number of 180,000 copies was given. On June 1, 1995, the magazine was finally discontinued after 23 issues. The losses incurred by the publishing house from this project amounted to 57 million  DM .

Tango employed 120 people. The political orientation of the magazine was described by Tiedje - in contrast to that of the sister- illustrated Stern  - as "liberal to conservative".
