λ Ursae Majoris ( Lambda Ursae Majoris , λ UMa for short ) is a star of the spectral class A2 IV in the constellation Great Bear . It has an apparent magnitude of 3.45 mag and its distance is approximately 134 light years .
The star bears the historical proper name Tania Borealis . The name Tania means the "second (jump of the gazelle)", borealis (Latin) means "north".
The IAU has the historical proper names on July 20, 2016 Tania Borealis also defined as standardized proper name for this star.
