μ Ursae Majoris ( My Ursae Majoris , μ UMa for short ) is a star in the constellation Great Bear . It is a giant of the spectral class M0 with an apparent magnitude of 3.1 mag. It is about 230 light years from the sun .
The star bears the historical proper name Tania Australis or El Phekrah . The word Tania means "the second (jump of the gazelle)", Australis (Latin) stands for "south".
The IAU has the historical proper names on July 20, 2016 Tania Australis also defined as standardized proper name for this star.
