Tanja Windbüchler-Souschill (born November 6, 1976 in Wiener Neustadt , Lower Austria ) is an Austrian politician of the Greens and social worker. From 2008 to 2017 she was a member of the National Council . She has been a councilor in Wiener Neustadt since 2020.

School education and study

Tanja Windbüchler-Souschill attended the Otto-Glöckel elementary school in Wiener Neustadt and then moved to the Bundesrealgymnasium Gröhrmühlgasse , where she graduated in 1995 with the Matura . She supported the establishment of the Triebwerk youth culture center in Wiener Neustadt, was involved as a young adult in the anti- NATO and anti-nuclear scene and was the managing director of the conscientious objection and nonviolence consortium in Vienna. In 2004 she graduated from the Academy for Social Work in Vienna 21 (today: FH Campus Wien ). She worked as a social worker in victim protection for the women's refuge and the intervention center against violence in the family.

Professional and political career

Tanja Windbüchler-Souschill became a member of the Green Wiener Neustadt in 2004, in the subsequent local election to the municipal council in spring 2005, she moved into the municipal council of Wiener Neustadt. She became a parliamentary group spokeswoman and was heavily involved in the regional organization of the Greens in Lower Austria. With effect from January 1, 2014, she resigned her mandate in the Wiener Neustadt municipal council in order to concentrate on the mandate she had meanwhile won in the National Council. In the municipal council election on January 25, 2015 she is running again as the top candidate of the Green Wiener Neustadt.

Tanja Windbüchler-Souschill ran for second place on the list in Lower Austria for the 2008 National Council election on August 10, 2008 and narrowly defeated Brigid Weinzinger in a ballot . In the legislative period from 2008 onwards, she was the spokesperson for the Green Club for children, youth and community service. During the 2013–2018 legislative period, she was the foreign policy spokesperson for the Green parliamentary group.

On March 18, 2012, the Lower Austrian Greens confirmed Tanja Windbüchler-Souschill as a candidate for the National Council in second place on the Lower Austrian provincial list. In the National Council election in September 2013, she returned to the National Council. In spring 2017 it became known that she was no longer running for the National Council.

After the municipal council election in 2020 , she became a councilor in Wiener Neustadt for the veterinary department.

Personal

Tanja Windbüchler-Souschill is married to Paul Souschill, who works for the regional office of the Greens in Lower Austria. Tanja Windbüchler-Souschill has two children.
