The Tanje Village Museum (other spelling Tanji Village Museum ) is a museum in the West African state of Gambia . The museum is located in Tanji on the Coastal Road and, according to its own statements, is the first privately operated museum in Gambia.

The museum, comparable to a museum village , shows traditional life and culture in Gambia on an area of around 175 × 80 meters. Various exhibits, including many musical instruments, from the different peoples of Gambia are shown. The tourist is primarily addressed as the target audience, but the local population and school classes are also received as visitors. The museum is structured like a traditional African compound and consists of several round huts. A botanical nature trail has also been set up in which around 30 trees whose use as food, medicine or building material are used are presented with their names. Their designation is given with the scientific name, the English and the names in Mandinka and Wolof .

The museum was founded in November 1997 by Abdoulie Bayo, who previously ran the National Museum in Banjul for a long time . The museum had received two awards since it was founded.
