Taphos (king)
In Greek mythology, Taphos ( Greek Τάφος ) is king of the island of Taphos and the progenitor of the Tapher people.
The Taphic Islands derive their name from him. His father Teleboas was the progenitor of the Teleboer; However, both are not historical, but mythical folk names that were often confused or used synonymously in antiquity; accordingly the name Telebois has been handed down for the island of Taphos . His son and successor was Pterelaus , whom Poseidon had given immortality.
According to Herodor, Taphos is the son of Pterelas and brother of Teleboas; but this may be confused with Taphios .
