Pterelaus
Pterelaos ( Greek Πτερέλαος ) is in Greek mythology the king of Taphos , son of Taphios or Teleboas. He fathered six sons, Chromios, Tyrannus, Antiochus, Chersidamas, Mestor and yours, and a daughter, Komaitho . Depending on the tradition, Ampelos is also named as a son or Taphios and Teleboas are performed instead of yours.
The traditions about his ancestry are very confused and contradicting. According to Apollodorus, Poseidon abducted Hippothoe , the daughter of Mestor , to the Echinades and begat Taphios with her. Apollodorus later says that the children of Pterelaus are grandsons of Mestor, which means that Pterelaus must have been the earthly consort of Hippothoe. His sons therefore asked Mestor's brother Elektryon to let them rule over Mycenae , since they considered themselves the rightful heirs. Since he refused, they robbed his herds of cattle, whereupon they were involved in a fight with his sons, in which they all lost their lives except for yours .
Pterelaus had golden hair that made him immortal. Since he did not tolerate his daughter Komaitho's love for his enemy Amphitryon , Komaitho tore this hair out of her father. The Taphier were then defeated and Pterelaus slain. Amphitryon also killed Komaitho.
