The Tapulao is the highest mountain in the Zambales province of the Philippines with a height of 2037 m . It is also known as High Peak and is so named on many maps .
The Tapulao is located in the municipality of Iba in the center of the Zambales Mountains . Its slopes are covered with dense rainforest up to a height of 1,875 meters . Dense heather vegetation spreads above it up to the summit. There are two ways to climb the mountain, a three-day ascent from Mayantoc , Tarlac Province , via the Tarlac Traverse Trail or a two-day ascent from Iba. From the summit you have a magnificent view from the Zambales Mountains to the South China Sea .
The endemic nasal rat Rhynchomys tapulao is found on the mountain .
