Tariq Wadood

Tariq Wadood (* 1957 ) is a former Pakistani badminton player who later started for the USA.

Career

Tariq Wadood is considered to be one of the greatest talents that the Pakistani badminton sport has produced. In Pakistan, he first appeared for a team from United Bank , which was captained by Zubair Ahmed . With the decline of badminton in his home country, he looked for a new field of activity and found it in the USA.

In 1986 he won the US Open in men's doubles with Yao Ximing . A year later he won the US championship in the men's singles final against Chris Jogis from Palo Alto with 15: 9 and 15:13 and was runner-up in doubles with Yao Ximing. In 1989 he became a two-time US title holder. A year later he won again at the US Open and in 1991 won his last national mixed title. After his active career he worked as an author and wrote the book Badminton Today .
