Tassilo Knauf (born March 9, 1944 in Weilheim in Upper Bavaria) is a German educator . Until his retirement in 2009 he worked at the University of Duisburg-Essen as a professor for elementary education and primary education.

Life

Knauf grew at the Niederrhein and studied after graduating from high school in Moenchengladbach first in Berlin, Münster and Hamburg Education , Philosophy , pre- and early history and art history and received a doctorate phil.

At the beginning of the 1970s, Knauf increasingly oriented himself towards education, worked on framework curricula and, together with other authors, wrote school books for the primary school sector. From 1981 to 2009 he worked as a university lecturer in Essen - first at the comprehensive university in Essen, then, due to the amalgamation of the universities, at the University of Duisburg-Essen.

Focus of work

In the field of early childhood education , Knauf is one of the pioneers in German-speaking countries. In various practical projects, he has carried out concept and quality developments in and with day-care centers. He has significantly advanced the dissemination of the Reggio pedagogy approach through publications in Germany.

Tassilo Knauf is co-founder and chairman of the Dialog Reggio association , which promotes the spread of Reggio pedagogy in Germany with exhibitions, publications and training courses.
