Coordinates: 36 ° 19 ' S , 140 ° 46' O The District Council of Tatiara is a Local Government Area (LGA) in the Australian state of South Australia . The area is 6476 km² and has about 6600 inhabitants (2016).
Tatiara is located in the southeast of South Australia about 250 kilometers southeast of the metropolis of Adelaide on the border with Victoria . The area includes 28 districts and towns: Banealla, Bangham, Bordertown, Brecon, Brimbago, Buckingham, Cangara, Cannawigara, Carew, Custon, Geegeela, Jack's Camp, Keith , Kongal, Lowan Vale, Makin, Moonkoora, Mount Rescue, Mundulla, Nalang , Padthaway, Pooginagoric, Sherwood, Swedes Flat, Wampoony, Western Flat, Willalooka and Wirrega. The council is headquartered in Bordertown, east of the LGA.

Tatiara Council has ten members, nine councilors are elected by residents of the two wards (seven from the East, two from the West Ward). These two districts are defined independently of the localities. The council chairman and mayor is also elected by all residents of the LGA.
